ATLANTApix: Fossil Floors

Fossil Floors at Fernbank Natural History Museum
Fossil Floors at Fernbank Natural History Musuem
At the Fernbank Natural History Museum, you'll find a lot more fossils than the Giants of the Mesozoic standing the in the Great Hall...you'll find countless others of them under your feet.

The Fossil Floors at Fernbank are made of 40,000 sandstone tiles containing 150 million year old fossils from the Jurassic Period.

The floors of Fernbank have really cool fossils including belemnites, sponges, and ammonites, an upcoming exhibition will explore uber-cool ancient mythical creatures including dragons, unicorns, and mermaids, titled "Mythical Creatures: Dragons, Unicorns, and Mermaids."

ATLANTApix of the tourATLANTA blog features a "photo-of-the-day" of Atlanta. Come back tomorrow for a new one!
