Atlanta is bursting with some pretty amazing craft beer breweries, offering new product all the time, behind-the-scenes tours, AND tastings! Many of them are new, but one has been around for just more than 16 years...SweetWater Brewing Company just celebrated 16 years in business—and a great sixteen years it's been, topped off with a phenomenal Sweet 16 Party!
I went to the uber-fun celebration with a whole bunch of friends. Pictures above, right to left: Carlo, me, Randy, Ahmad, Ashley, (photo bomber—there were lots of them!), Bethany, and Tisha. Great friends and great fun!
Seriously, I had no idea that photo bombing was such a popular pastime. Fortunately, they were every one hilarious!
Borrowing from the 1984 movie "Sixteen Candles", the party had an 80s theme...and lots of folks really had a blast with the 80s—including Gentry and BF—from fashion to cinema characters to even more fashion!
Entertainment for the party was the incredibly popular Yacht Rock Revue, thus a plethora of "Captain" hats throughout the celebration.
Every one of the SweetWater bartenders were fantastic...consistently making sure every guest was enjoying themselves. Not an easy task on that scale, but they totally pulled it off!
SweetWater opened all their spaces...and there are LOTS!
People as far as the eye could see...
SweetWater offered up a great selection of brews to sample to help all the guests celebrate their big day.
The 1980s costumes were fun, fun, fun...
Randy Adler (right), owner of Babs Midtown Restaurant, met his younger doppelganger at the party...everyone was smiles!
Having been a punk rocker in the actual 1980s, it was fun to revisit the era with friends, new and old. That's me on the right, sans bangs to my nose and hair colored blue, orange, green, yellow, and blue. Those were some really, really, really fun times—I was 19 years old with bleach blonde hair living in Europe!
Didn't catch their names, but grateful that so many were willing to pose for wanderlust ATLANTA!
Fun, fun, fun!
Yes, Star Wars debuted in 1977, BUT...the second and third movies—Episode V and Episode VI—hit the Big Screen in 1980 and 1983, respectively, so they fit in with the theme.
Thousands of people were there to help celebrate!
Yacht Rock Revue!
Dragon*Con or SweetWater's Sweet 16, I always enjoy hanging with a Stormtrooper!

At first, I thought the hats were a tribute to Captain & Tennile, but I remembered that they were from the 70s, so it wasn't reconciling. I'd heard of Yacht Rock Revue, but had never heard them...they're brilliant!!!
